Biography of
 

Luther Munson Gilbert 

Born Dec. 9, 1842, in New Haven, Conn., son of Rev. William T. Gilbert, graduate of Yale College, Member of New York East Conference, Methodist Episcopal Church.  Prepared for college at Wesleyan Academy, Wilbraham, Mass. 

1866, Studied Medicine in Brooklyn, N.Y., and in New York City.

1866, M.D., Long Island College Hospital.

1867-81, Practicing Medicine in New Haven, Conn.

1868, Studied in Medical Department of Yale College.

1875-6, Secretary of New Haven Medical Association.

1877-81, Attending Physician, Connecticut State Hospital.

1880, Secretary of Medical Board, Connecticut State Hospital.

1880-90, Medical Practitioner in New Haven.  Member of both City and State Medical Societies.  Author of a short treatise on Medical Practice.

Died, April 27, 1890.

"He was not merely an active and skillful practitioner; his character was of recognized uprightness and integrity, while his other admirable personal qualities won for him a large circle of warm friends outside the number of his professional associates."

Married Dec. 12, 1878, Miss Jennie I. Merwin, of New Haven, Conn., who has since died.

Five children.
